Stabilized Ankle Support with Figure of 8 Strap

This support comes with two metal spiral stays, which should be inserted into the appropriate spaces in the support as required for additional support. These stays may already be located one on either side of the support, however it is important that you check the location according to your individual needs according to the following instructions.

Locate the two large bones on either side of the ankle joint. The flexible metal stays should be placed in the channels located as close as possible behind these two bones.

All directions are from the users perspective and are the same for both left and right ankles.

With the support loosely on the foot, ensure the upper and long strap are secured comfortably, but the figure of 8 strap is not yet applied around the ankle.

Open the right-hand stay channel fastener to expose the two stay channels, locate the large ankle bone on that side of the support and select the closest stay channel behind this bone. If required, reposition the stay into the correct stay channel, ensuring the stay is fully placed into the channel.

Close the right-hand stay channel fastener and unfasten upper strap to allow opening of left stay channel fastener. Repeat previous steps to locate the large ankle bone and select the appropriate stay channel for this side of the ankle and reposition stay if required. Note that the position of the stays on each side of the ankle does not need to match, it is important to have the stays located in the correct channels for the user’s ankle joint.

Close the left-hand stay channel fastener, resecure upper strap and apply the long elasticated strap in a figure of 8 motion until secure but comfortable.

For users who require additional support to one side of the ankle only, both stays can be placed onto one side. Please seek medical advice from a professional in charge of your care if you are unsure if you would require additional support to one side of the ankle.

Remove spiral stays before washing. Hand Wash Cold Only and Dry Flat. Do Not Use Fabric Softener. Do Not Tumble Dry. Do Not Bleach. Do Not Dry clean. Do Not Iron. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct heat and sunlight.
