Additional support around the ankle, particularly the sides may be needed if you have If you have weakness in your ankle that is usually worse during sideways motion, such as “rolling” your ankle. Additionally, ligament injuries, such as injuries to the Medial Ankle Ligament or Lateral Ankle Ligament will usually require further stabilisation.

You are most likely to require additional medial or lateral support if you are at the start of your rehabilitation journey (before injured structures are strong enough for normal movement), or in late-stage degeneration from conditions, such as arthritis.

As well as stabilization, silicone cushions provide protection around the ankle structure. These help to provide good healing environments during your rehabilitation journey and work to limit pain from accidental knocks.
